Title: #DrawDisability: how children and youth worldwide see disability
#DrawDisability is a global campaign launched by the Global Observatory for Inclusion (GLOBI), the United Nations Secretary-General’s Global Education First Initiative (GEFI) and the United Nations Global Education First Initiative Youth Advocacy Group (GEFI-YAG), in collaboration with over 20 national and international organisations.
In 2015, teachers worldwide were invited to use the #DrawDisability Guidelines to promote awareness on disability within their classrooms, and students were asked to express their thoughts and feelings on disability and inclusion by drawing. Almost 3000 artworks were submitted to #DrawDisability by children and youth with and without disabilities from 50 countries.
This presentation will summarise the main highlights of the #DrawDisability campaign, and will provide a unique perspective on how children and youth worldwide understand issues of disability, inclusion and discrimination worldwide.
